Amputee in new school 3
“Hi, you must be Clara, right?”, she said while still looking towards me. “My Name is Lisa and I am gonna be your new roommate. I would love to shake hands with you, but considering that , as you might have already noticed, I can’t see where you exactly stand I guess you will have to come in front of me.”
“ To be honest, a hand shake with me isn’t that easy either, since I don’t have actual hands any more.”
As I speak my words, I watch her facial expression, which I guess should show surprise but considering she can’t see other people’s facial expressions it just looks kind of

I rolled towards my room, which I would be sharing with another student. I hope he is nice. When I arrive, I can see that the door is not fully closed, so I guess my roommate already arrived. As I open the door, I see my roommate looking towards me with a confused face. She is around 1.75 m tall, being far bigger than me, especially if you consider my missing legs. And her legs are also missing, but below her knee, which allows her to use prosthetics more often then I. do. My problem isn’t that I couldn’t use my prosthetics, but rather that it is not worth the effort to wear them.My roommate wears a grey rather slim hoodie, that l

Amputee in her new school, chapter 1
My story started, when I arrived at my new school. It is supposed to be a school where people with disabilities, like me, can feel normal, cause nobody stares at them and the other students understand you although you are unique and all that stuff. Anyway I arrived there and went to the dorms. It is quite a big building. It was split in a half for girls and in one for boys, each side covering probably around 250 beds. It was constructed for the persons that went to the school but didn't live in the small city right next to it, which I guessed were almost all them.

Independent Living (Ch 0)
So, I’m on my own now. T-L-D-R is, I got cancer in my tongue, had to have the whole thing taken out, surgery messed up, got a nasty blood infection, lost all my teeth, lost both my arms, lost both my feet. Then I lost my parents, which… thanks dad. I guess having your only child turn into an invalid was too much for him. He was always a mean abusive asshole, but… yeah. Anyway, when I woke up I found out I’d missed my 18th birthday, my mom was dead, my dad was in prison, I couldn’t talk (but I knew that part was coming), and I couldn’t walk or pick anything up or do anything for myself ever again. Fuck. That. I had the nurses call the whole cheerleading squad as soon as I could get a pencil in my mouth. The whole team was so incredibly supportive, I couldn’t stop crying. Everyone wanted to help take care of me, but I just couldn’t handle it. So I told the nurses that I refused in-home care or “assisted living” or whatever the shit they want to call it. Had to sign So. Many.
